I was inspired to pore through the expansive NBC News Archive in search of Shere Hite after coming across her obituary in 2020. I found a bounty of raw footage, filmed across three decades, making clear just how famous Shere had really been. After finding many dozens of her former colleagues, friends and lovers I found her even more interesting. So then I became obsessed with the question, “so why have I never heard of her?”

Directed by Oscar-nominee Nicole Newnham with the voice of Shere read by Dakota Johnson.
